William (Willie) Murphy is a self taught artist who was born and lives in Crownpoint, New Mexico. Willie developed his talent and style by experimenting freely in oil and also by studying the works of other well known artists.
He received an award at the 1993 Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial; he won 3rd Place in Best of Show, 1st Place in Best in Class, and 1st Place in Category.

The two riders are pictured in the beautiful Canyon de Chelly. The Canyon has a long history with the Navajo people and is now a National Monument.
